Challenge at the Durbuy Adventure Valley
Last weekend hosted the 10th round of the UCI C1 bike trials competition at Adventure Valley in Durbuy, Belgium. Another prime opportunity for Jitsie riders Nico Vallée and Alejandro Montalvo to earn some valuable points and strengthen their respective positions in the World Cup rankings.
The trial took place in the middle of nature park Adventure Valley and was organized by Iciar Vandenbergh. Props to him and his club for setting up a great event.
Known for it's beautiful natural terrain, Adventure Valley provided challenging sections for all categories.
Local rider Maurine Sintzen battled her way to third place in the women's class.
Trials is all about choosing the right lines.
Alejandro started the day off good with some solid rides but a loss of concentration midway the trial dropped him back into 5th place.
Nicolas Vallée won the 26" Elite category and took 2nd place in the overall. Not a bad weekend for the young French champion.
How low can you go? Nico showing off a beautiful gap-to-front technique on one of the many tricky boulders.
Same technique, different style.
The UCI C1 trial at Durbuy offered seriously challenging sections. Due to morning rainfall and moss-covered rocks, grip was very hard to find and it showed in the riders approach to the sections.
Being mentally prepared before the race is key in every sport. Holding that concentration and intensity the whole race, however, is not an easy task.
Knowing Alejandro, his sub-par result will only serve as extra motivation. Luckily there's still three rounds to go, so plenty of opportunities to get some more wins under his belt.
Calm and collected. A beautiful display of smooth style and technique.
Precision is key in bike trials as there's not much room for errors.
