TrialGP Comblain-au-Pont, Belgium
The fourth round of the FIM Trials World Championship took place at the small French speaking town of Comblain-Au-Pont. Known for it's beatiful natural sections and cosy town centre paddock it promised to be another beautiful edition of the Belgian round. Just as the previous GP the hot summer weather continued, claiming it's toll both mentally and physically on all the riders.
Franzi Kadlec was struggling with illness all week and battled against heavy fever in these hot conditions. Nevertheless he gave it 100% effort claiming 8th position in qualifying and 9th position overall on sunday.
Pau Martinez was looking for redemption this time around, but a series of unfortunate fives in lap 2 drowned his podium chances for this weekend.
Franzi lining up to attack the infamous big step from section 10. Despite the hot weather a lot of spectators showed up.
Franzi taking a brief rest before entering the section. Hats off to him for his performance under these brutal conditions.
Will he clean it or not? The crowd's reaction to every rider was a beatiful sight.
Besides the temperatures it was also a battle for grip all day on these slippery moss covered rocks.
Tough day for Belgian's rider Emile Mattheeuws. After a strong performance in Zelhem he was looking to improve his result in front of his hometown crowd.
Pau Martinez and his minder Suca discussing line choices.
It may not have been the result Emile was looking for, but in only his second GP ever he has gained a lot of valuable experience.
As always a beautiful display of technique by Franzi on his TRRS Gold.
Focus all the way to the end.
Massive hillclimbs and downhills on a natural terrain makes Comblain-Au-Pont the perfect location for trials.
